The ferocious power of Battlecross's debut album, "Pursuit of Honor," now available for the first time ever on stunning Blood Moon Vinyl. Originally released on Metal Blade Records in 2011, this thrash and metal juggernaut features the relentless anthem "Push, Pull, Destroy" – the #1 most requested song on Sirius XM Liquid Metal for an incredible 5 weeks in a row in 2012. Remastered for vinyl, this edition comes in a mesmerizing red with black marbling, encapsulating the intensity of Battlecross's sonic assault. Dive into the heart of metal history on March 29, 2024, exclusively on Backbreaker Records.
"Rumbling over the top of this music juggernaut is vocalist Kyle Gunther, who will not be mistaken for anything less than a workhorse on the microphone. Employing a multitude of screams, roars and growls, it’s shocking there isn’t much blood emanating from his larynx on “Man of Stone.” All five musicians come together to perfect pit-worthy harmony on the low tuned future show action highlight “Breaking You,” the riffs and drum parts dive bombing in a back and forth jackhammer exercise guaranteed to inflict serious limb damage."

Stryper is most celebrated Christian rock band there is. Anyone reading this most likely knows the impact that Stryper has had on the scene. From the soaring vocals of Michael Sweet, the guitar attack of Oz Fox to the visual timekeeping (a show all on its own) of Robert Sweet, this band plowed a lot of ground and few would debate their legacy or impact.
Murder by Pride was released in 2009, a powerful testament to the band's enduring musical prowess and spiritual depth. With this album, Stryper returns to their classic sound, combining heavy guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and soaring vocals to create a collection of songs that are both musically intense and spiritually uplifting.
The album's title, "Murder by Pride," hints at the dangers of excessive pride and self-righteousness, themes that resonate strongly throughout the tracks. Through a blend of melodic metal and thoughtful lyrics, Stryper explores themes of redemption, faith, and the struggles of the human spirit. The album delves into the complexities of human nature, reflecting on the temptations and challenges that individuals face while striving for spiritual enlightenment.
One of the standout qualities of "Murder by Pride" is its emotional depth. The songs are not only musically rich but also lyrically profound, addressing universal themes of forgiveness, humility, and the battle between good and evil. Michael Sweet's passionate vocals lead the way, conveying a range of emotions from vulnerability to unwavering conviction.
The album showcases Stryper's ability to craft powerful ballads and hard-hitting anthems alike. Tracks like "4 Leaf Clover" and "My Love (I'll Always Show)" display the band's softer side, exploring themes of love and devotion. On the other hand, songs like "Eclipse of the Son" and "Alive" deliver intense guitar solos and dynamic rhythms, capturing the essence of Stryper's trademark sound.
"Murder by Pride" is not only a musical triumph but also a spiritual journey. It challenges listeners to confront their inner struggles, question their beliefs, and ultimately find solace in faith and redemption. With its compelling combination of metal intensity and heartfelt spirituality, "Murder by Pride" stands as a testament to Stryper's enduring talent and their ability to inspire and uplift audiences across the globe.

Stryper is most celebrated 80's Christian rock band there is. When the band reunited, the Christian rock community had massive reason to celebrate. Stryper 2.0 was here. Although many thought that Stryper's first album back would be the next To Hell With the Devil or In God We Trust album. What we actually got was something altogether different. Stryper was Reborn. After Reborn dropped in 2005 most were just thrilled for something new, however some had complaints that it wasn't the same ole Stryper. I for one am glad that we aren't still living with Blockbuster, MySpace, AOL, Netzero, Buicks, and flip-phones. I'm glad we've evolved and so should music. In my book, Stryper did it right. They reinvented themselves. Reborn and Murder By Pride are quintessential Stryper history.

Love and Death is the brainchild of Brian Head Welch from the band Korn. In 2013, Brian "Head" Welch (Korn) released Between Here & Lost, the debut album of his band Love and Death on Tooth & Nail Records and EMI. The album peaked at #81 on the Billboard 200, #5 on both Hard Rock Albums and Christian Albums charts. It was also #28 on Top Rock Albums. The project was produced by Jasen Rauch (RED, Breaking Benjamin). Along with Rauch and Welch, the band also included longtime guitar protege J.R. Baries (Spoken, Islander). 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of this album.

On January 22, 2013, Brian "Head" Welch (Korn) released Between Here & Lost, the debut album of his band Love and Death on Tooth & Nail Records and EMI. Ten years later, these artists are still important collaborators for Welch outside of Korn.
Between Here & Lost produced three singles, "Chemicals" (#6 on Billboard's Hot Singles chart and #4 on Christian Rock), "The Abandoning" (#6 Christian Rock), and "Meltdown" (#14 Christian Rock). The album also featured appearances by artists like Joe Rickard (Red), who helped with drums, Matt Baird (Spoken) who did background vocals on the band's cover of "Whip It", and Mattie Montgomery (For Today) who was a featured artist on "I W8 4 U".
It was while on tour for this album that Welch would reunite with his bandmates in Korn when he made an impromptu visit to see the band at the Carolina Rebellion in Rockingham, NC May 5th, 2012. Love and Death was on tour with Red and Welch was a special guest in Red's performance at the event. Welch and his bandmates in Korn had an incredible and emotional re-connection that led to Jonathan Davis inviting Welch on stage during the Korn set to perform with the band for the first time since his departure in 2005. Welch returned to Korn, after a seven year absence, shortly after the release of Between Here & Lost. Soon after his return, the band released Paradigm Shift, the first album recorded with Welch in ten years, producing the single "Never Never" which became Korn's first #1 single at Mainstream Rock.
It would be eight years before Love and Death would release new music with 2021's Perfectly Preserved and the complimenting DVD / Live Album Perfectly Preserved Live. Between Here & Lost holds an important place in Welch's career both as the beginning of Love and Death as a vital platform for Welch's solo work, and also as a catalyst to his return to Korn. The album has been a favorite with his dedicated and loyal fan base and to celebrate the albums 10th Anniversary, Blind Tiger Records and Girder Records have partnered to re-release the album on CD and, for the first time ever, on Vinyl. The CD is the deluxe edition with special packaging to include an O-card and a trading card with a 12-page booklet. The Vinyl comes in Standard Black Vinyl and Indie Exclusive with Transparent Blue Vinyl. Both the CD and Vinyl include a personal letter from Welch to Love and Death fans.
This is the most comprehensive collection of Petra music ever put together. It is also the first time Petra has ever released a vinyl box set. This special vinyl box set is limited to just 500 and contains all the songs that are found on the Petra - Fifty (Anniversary Collection) 3 CD set which releases April 7th. The vinyl record box set contains a large 12"x12", 12-page, high quality, glossy page book with the complete Petra story and reflections from both founding member Bob Hartman and vocalist John Schlitt. All songs were remastered for vinyl and pressed on high-quality virgin black vinyl and come stored in separate jackets inside this side-load slip case box. Don't miss this chance to snag a piece of history. Only 500 made.
“My life was forever changed the day I heard Petra. They helped shape me lyrically, musically, and most important of all spiritually. They have been the soundtrack of my life. Their music was a constant companion to me as I went to Jesus in worship, in prayer, in desperation, and in friendship and love. This band is one of God’s greatest gifts to me.”

JAG PANZER - THE AGE OF MASTERY (*NEW-GOLD VINYL, 2023, Brutal Planet) elite Melodic Power Metal!
METAL ARCHIVES REVIEWS - 95% RATING
Harry Conklin sings like a god, Chris Broderick’s guitar playing is brilliant and the rhythm section is tight as shit. However that would count for nothing, if the songs were not that good. But no matter if it’s the live standard “Iron Eagle,” “False Messiah,” “The Moors,” the title track (although some have argued that the chorus is a bit too cheesy), or the reworkings of older songs like “Lustful And Free,” “Viper,” “Chain Of Command,” or “Take This Pain Away” - this is Metal at its best! Many fans consider this to be Jag Panzer’s best album. Whether or not this is true, this is definitely Jag Panzer’s catchiest.
METAL-CRITIC REVIEW - 5 out of 5 stars
The Age of Mastery begins with a bang -- lots of guitar soloing. LOTS of guitar soloing. Lots. "Iron Eagle" is the first track and it's a massive song with blazing solos and a big, big rhythm guitar sound. "Lustfull and Free" is the second track, and it too is a huge song. Great air guitar riffing. And vocals that soar way above the music. An almost Judas Priest sound to this track. Great sing-along chorus. The rest of the CD follows suit, with great guitar-heavy tracks that are more catchy than they are pulverizing, which is the way I like them. Guitars that are too loud or played too fast lose all enjoyment to me. Jag Panzer is the perfect balance between '80s metal melodies and 2002's production standards. For example, "False Messiah," (track five) is a killer song with an '80s metal feel to it. (Very nice riff.) But it's still got that in-your-face production that's so common these days. If you like your riffs hard, yet melodic, your vocals powerful but clean and your solos plentiful and fast...Jag Panzer's The Age of Mastery is the CD for you.
ABOUT THE ALBUM
What is perhaps most important about The Age of Mastery is that it shows a band about to embark on a conceptual phase of their career which elevates them from mere power/heavy metal to something more substantial and interesting. The Age Of Mastery is produced by Jim Morris (Iced Earth, Death, Savatage), and feature original singer Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin, and guitarist Chris Broderick, who joined Megadeth in 2008. The album is often listed as one of the best classic heavy metal albums of the '90s, and includes ultimate classics of the band such as "Iron Eagle" or "Chain Of Command." The 2023 Brutal Planet Records Gold Vinyl is mastered for vinyl by Rob Colwell of Bombworks Sound and comes with a 12x12 full color lyrics insert. This classic has literally never sounded or looked better and comes on a single disc! This is the ultimate collector's dream for an all-time classic!

ABOUT THE ALBUM
Crimson Thorn is one of the most technical and pummeling death metal bands ever! They stand toe to toe with bands like Obituary, Carcass, and Cannibal Corpse. Crimson Thorn is one of the few Christian death metal bands that could ever be put in such an elite category. The vocals are low and ultra-guttural. From beginning to end the blast beats, double bass assaults, guttural growls, and general death metal fury never lets up. Fans can once again discover the delight and joy of the deep, distressing, and downright disturbing sounds of Crimson Thorn! The 200 unit vinyl pressing includes a 12x12 lyrics insert and has been mastered for vinyl by Bombworks Sound. Get this classic while you can!

BWR1423 CRIMSON THORN - PLAGUED DEMO (VINYL) 637405141764
ABOUT THE ALBUM
Crimson Thorn employs a different vocal style on the 1992 demo called Plagued. In contrast to the guttural low-end monster vocals of Unearthed, the vocals are harsh, yet more reminiscent of late 80’s thrash. The guitars and drums sound like a combination of Anthrax and Metallica and some of the songs are quite long, with guitar solos and fast tom drum fills. The music is great. In fact, some of these riffs seem very reminiscent of original Metallica tracks! Song titles like “Perverse Policies” and “Misrepresented Representatives” call to mind the wit and cynicism of Megadeth. The open guitar section in this latter song totally reminds us of Metallica. It is obvious these guys could clearly throw it down in 1992 and do so with authority, and for demo material it's excellent! This is the first time these 7 tracks and 36 minutes of thrash music are available on Vinyl. The tracks have been culled from a new and improved source for this vinyl release and mastered for vinyl by Rob Colwell of Bombworks Sound. Limited to just 200 copies - do not delay in getting this treasured classic!

ABOUT THE ALBUM
Allan Aguirre is best known as the front man for the punk band Scaterd Few. He formed Spy Glass Blüe as a side project, to serve as his “mellower, artistic outlet” and to function as more of a ministry band. The group became his main focus for a brief interim (1995–1998) during which Scaterd Few was defunct. Shadows shows strong influence of general market artists like Bauhaus and Peter Murphy and so was immediately identified as a rare example of Christian goth music. Aguirre objects to the categorization but admits that “a lot of goths were into Scaterd Few” and that he “welcomes that audience.” Spy Glass Blue returned in 2002 with Louder As Feathers, once again waving their intellectual and spiritual lyrical flag to the rhythms of modern-alternative music. The hook-laden, impassioned songs on this project are far and away their most engaging and enjoyable yet, as Allan Aguirre's voice swoops and soars above their harmonic rock. The 2023 retroactive Records reissue is the first time this classic is available on vinyl. Each record comes with a 12x12 insert, and has been remastered for vinyl by Rob Cowell of Bombworks Sound. The vinyl does include the Daniel Amos cover song as an added bonus for fans. Limited to just a 200 unit pressing.
....MORE ABOUT THE ALBUM
The second Spy Glass Blue album Loud As Feathers is lustrous, fun and distinguished. The veiled lyrics and steam punk found on the debut have been supplanted by more personable lyrics and post-punk/goth leanings. The songs are tight and masterfully played.
Beginning with Light Machine, this mid-paced rocker sets a solid musical trajectory for this new band variant. Because Of You sounds like Big Star and is reminiscent of the style of lyrics Keith Green would have penned. Moving along, I hear the ambiance of Bowie in The Dreaming, a beautiful song that extrapolates on of purpose and calling.
Morning Star has Britpop sensibility and showcases mature songwriting: “Adulation – Comes in so many sizes, And in the end we’ll bow on bended knee to, the Giver of Life.” The next track Everything could have been recorded in a space capsule if you use your imagination and is equal parts brooding and enlightening. Ophelia sounds like something Peter Murphy might have done, majestic and joyous. Song For My Children is a heart-on-sleeve song about empathy felt for children growing up. Closing song And I Go is melancholic goth, a gorgeous romping song about searching and finding.
On this CD reissue is a song from the Daniel Amos tribute compilation, the song by the same name as the tribute album title, When World’s Collide. This is a brilliant DA song. While Allan’s version does not add anything strikingly unique, it does captures the song’s beauty well with his own keyboard and vocal delivery.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT SHADOWS....
This is a criminaly overlooked band. The post-punk/Goth project of Alan (scattered few) Aguirre. While Scattered Few always had a Bowie/Peter Murphy influence, on this album Alan brings his Goth influences to the forefront. A perfect description of this album is David Bowie meets Bauhaus. A perfect combination of influences. So if you wear black, lots of eyeliner and flour makeup, chances are you'll love this cd. So get it before it's gone because it is OOP! Music Critic MM
Great disc. Very unique sound. As others have noted there’s a Bowie-esque industrial tinged goth rock here but one that is not afraid to flow with liquid bass lines and occasional synth pop flurries. It all lands in an off-kilter left-of-center field with Allan Aguirre’s (ex- Scatered Few) meandering, warbly voice leading the way. When he croons his uneven up and down one word chorus on “Lodging” it embodies everything I love about this release. This is a rock star with theatrical vocals...

The group became his main focus for a brief interim (1995–1998) during which Scaterd Few was defunct. Shadows shows strong influence of general market artIists like David Bowie, Bauhaus, The Cure, and Peter Murphy and so was immediately identified as a rare example of Christian goth music. Aguirre objects to the categorization but admits that “a lot of goths were into Scaterd Few” and that he “welcomes that audience.” The opening track, “Thin and Leaner,” displays some of the punk style of Aguirre’s main band, but the rest of the album consists of dark, haunting, moody tunes that might recall The Cure. Aguirre sometimes mimics David Bowie’s vocals (e.g., on “In Sultry Places,” “On and On”). Thematically, the album seems to deal with the confusion of life without Christ. All 12-songs have been remastered for vinyl by Rob Colwell of Bombworks Sound, and fans get a black vinyl with a 12x12 insert, and limited to just 200 copies. ...MORE ABOUT THE ALBUM
It is no secret that by the time Sin Disease found its way into music stores, Aguirre had been playing the LA club scene with his dark wave band Cygnet. The average music enthusiasts tends to regard Scaterd Few as a big fish in a small pond of relevant faith-based bands. However, when Scaterd Few went on hiatus the first time, Aguirre gravitated towards dark wave, playing alongside bands like Jane’s Addiction, who were then vying for recognition in a sea of hair metal bands. Years later, Cygnet ended up evolving into the moniker Spy Glass Blue.
I first became aware of Spy Glass Blue when Flying Tart (also known as Flying Fart, but I digress…) released Spy Glass Blue’s debut EP on a 7” and a cassette. The songs on this 7” and tape later made it onto Shadows, their first full length. When I hear this album, I think steam punk, though it is also referred to as dark wave. I also hear Eastern European post-punk in these fine crafted songs.
One of the elements I adore about Spy Glass Blue is the more stripped-down approach to song structure. Layers are ever-present and the vocals are front and center.
Thin and Leaner launches it with reckless abandon, reminding the listener that post-punk is no respite from the punk family. Lodging embodies the wonder of being in love, perhaps the most intimate lyrics to date. In Sultry Places is my favorite from Shadows, though I confess I am hard pressed to decipher its meaning: “With a Crimson Face disgraced, By secret names and childhood games, Tales of Croatian sacrifices, Opal Eyes don’t fantasize aloud but, alone in sultry places…” Hey, does anyone have an Allan key to help unlock this lyrical mystery
Can You Feel? is a song of lament as well as an apprise: “His eyes kaleidoscope in pain to see, the mass creation, Continue in their degradable shame, But still the broken heart keeps bleeding for the population, Shouldn’t we be doing the same in His name?”
On Me Mine there is passionate interplay between the guitar and bass with goth influences bleeding out. Next up, Stygian is colorful post-punk that it may transport your mind to another ethereal location. While it appears to be sing-song-y and jovial, the subject matter is anything but … “For the lips of an adulteress drip like honey, Her feet go down to the depths of She’ol, Like a Syriac or oxen to the slaughter, Little Stygian follows to her chamber of death.” If you happen to wonder where Spy Glass Blue stands on the fate of defiled spiritual leaders, this might give you pause. Iron Grey is a masterpiece, Bowie-esque and bewildering. In all sincerity, if Aguirre had a solid shot at general market music, this would have been the song. Should Have is the antithesis of a sappy love song, written from the persuasion of one who realizes beauty is not what makes a relationship. Ending with Tell, this is a tribal-esque praise piece, quoting from a portion of a Hebrew Psalm.
Shadows not only sketches personal shadows but also those of religious leaders on public display. It is often dark, mostly exquisite, and essentially truth-telling.

ABOUT THE ALBUM
Out Of The Attic was “officially” released in cassette format in 1991 on Aguirre’s own Sacrosantus label, a year after Sin Disease was released. Before that, an eleven-song tape was made available at shows, or bootlegged. Flying Tart Records picked it up for a CD release in 1994. With its inclusion in the boxset, Out Of The Attic finally receives the sound tweaking it has been begging for. Tracks four through eleven off Out Of The Attic were on The Terry Tapes, named accordingly since Terry Taylor sat in the producer’s seat. Attic is unapologetic LA punk, no special effects, no over-dubs. The audacity of believers doing punk in the early ‘80s is unequivocally ballsy. These were short yet authentic punk songs informing a decade and a half of starch-in-the-collar industry types what they could expect, particularly in the Pacific Northwest, for another musical revolution. Apart from the first Barnabas album, Circle One, a young U2, and some fringe UK bands, nothing came close to the fire Scaterd Few was igniting. And nothing came within a country mile of the punk vibe of these primal songs. The 2023 Retroactive Records black vinyl has been remastered by Rob Colwell of Bombworks Sound and also includes 2 never-before-released tracks from The Aspects - Allan’s band in Guatemala City circa 1981! Never-before-on-vinyl - and limited to just 200 units world-wide! Enjoy!

I remember hearing a bootleg of these songs back in 1984, along with Circle One’s Patterns of Force album. There was nothing more authentically punk than these songs from the viewpoint of outreach. As Terry Scott Taylor of Daniel Amos fame penned in the Flying Tart liner notes, the LA club scene had these songs long before the Christian bookstores did.
One of the first band incarnation of Scaterd Few consisted of Allan Aguirre (then known as Ramald Domkus) on guitar, another “Allen” on vocals, brother Omar on bass, and Brian Andrews on drums. Tracks four through eleven off Out Of The Attic were on The Terry Tapes, named accordingly since Terry Taylor sat in the producer’s seat. When listening to these early songs like Death or Anti-Ape, it revisits an earlier time when some of us wanted nothing more than to experience unabashed freedom in both Jesus and music that spoke in a raw vernacular. Apart from the first Barnabas album, Circle One, a young U2, and some fringe UK bands, nothing came close to the fire Scaterd Few was igniting. And nothing came within a country mile of the punk vibe of these primal songs. (Doug Peterson / Music Critic)

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT JAWBONEOFANASS...
Jaw Bone of an Ass, is more polished musically, more introspective lyrically. The musical influences are more cohesively blended, delivering an aggressive post-alternative, postgrunge sound that is as safe to the establishment as a well-placed knee to the groin. --Brad Caviness
..."a Shotgun wedding between complex musicianship and scathing punk rock"
Mark Allan Powell / Encyclopedia of CCM
True Tunes Magazine hailed Jawbone as “brilliant” in its portrayal of “psychotic, poetic angst” and predicted the lyrics would spark less controversy this time around: Aguirre “represents the sincere yearning of a saved man crying out in the desert” and “peppers his raw ‘grit and bear it’ message with doses of humor so as not to be too heavy handed.”
ABOUT THE ALBUM
Jawboneofanass's musical influences are more cohesively blended this time around, delivering an aggressive post-alternative, post-grunge sound that is as safe to the religious establishment as a well-placed knee to the groin. It had been four long years since the epic Sin Disease revolutionized the sanitized religious subculture we like to call CCM (Contemporary Christian Music). The band's fortitude was tested when they recorded the album for mainstream label Vox Vinyl (1991), then again for Michael Knott's Blonde Vinyl Records (1992), and then a third time (1994), as an independent release). The end result was what music critic, Mark Allan Powell called, a "Shotgun wedding between complex musicianship and scathing punk rock!" It was another artistic triumph for the band. You can still hear influences such as The Clash and Bad Brains but this time the lyrics are more accessible, and the music more mature. This is exactly the album that fans were begging for - fans tired of the stagnant, traditional religious scene who needed something real, something authentic...something for the ones whose experience didn't allow them to fit neatly into a religious box and who were tired of being told something was wrong with them. Jawboneofanass was the lifeboat that kept our heads above the water and gave us hope - even a confidence that God's love still reigned down upon us. The importance of this album cannot be overstated. It towers above standard classics both musically and lyrically. It was released at the perfect time, and the Retroactive Records 2023 black vinyl reissue comes with a 12x12 insert, and has been mastered for vinyl by Rob Cowell of Bombworks Sound. Limited to just 200 units world-wide.
...MORE ABOUT ABOUT THE ALBUM
Next in the Scaterd Blüe box (refer to the Sin Disease Gold Disc or Vinyl reissue for chronological order) is a chapter of epic proportions. Jawboneofanass may not be the eclectic cacophony that Sin Disease was. But as we all know, Scaterd Few never put out the same album twice. It is in this stoical persistence to keep evolving that birthed an album like this one. Jawboneofanass took three separate recording stints before a finished product emerged, explaining four years elapsed for the album to materialize.
This album has a quintessential line-up of Allan Aguirre, Paul Figueroa, Drew Domkus, Omar Domkus and Samuel West. Omar rips it up masterfully on bass, Figueroa throws down guitar with precision and fluidity, and Sam West owns drum finesse as only Sam can. There is also nearly an all-star cast participating: Jyro of Mortal, Eric Clayton of Saviour Machine, Edie Goodwin of Headnoise, all on background vocals, as well as Mark Rodriguez (Mortal, The Blamed, Aunt Betties, Lost Dogs, etc.) recording and Dave Hackbarth (The Choir, Prayer Chain, etc.) editing.
Forty-five seconds into the first cut Witchcraft, one can experience transcendence from a band that understands their alchemy. That transcendence does not let up, dancing between the rhapsodic Sinking In Sorrow to the sinuous balladry of Dame, and ending with Pinnacle, a fast wielding number rebuking corrupted spiritual leaders. There within the album are twelve indispensable cuts of dark and weighty content played with reggae-infused punk likened to Bad Brains, with whom Scaterd Few played backing band for their singer HR. The funk and rhythm of Oom Pah Pah serves as kudos to their comradery. Another point of intrigue is the ballad Once Upon…, narrating a veiled tale of biographical nature with references to Godsent Humans and Native Son (Mark Solomon’s hip-hop project).
If by chance you did not receive Jawboneofanass with the ecstatic welcome as Sin Disease, give it another listen. It may surprise you how well it has aged.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT GRANDMOTHER'S SPACESHIP...
Grandmother's Spaceship offers enough grit to salt the loose seams of Christian music's neat-and-pretty image, but offers the salve as well. It is refreshing to see a brand of punk which draws its energy from its solution-oriented activism, rather than from the fake anger of endless complaint. ...the music inside punctures the package (plain artwork) like a hawk. It is punk that completes the circle of first offering the threat, then the solution for peace. Phantom Tollbooth Zine
Allan Aguirre is right there with the best singer, songwriters like Robert Smith of the Cure, Perry Farrell of Jane's. Also check out Allan's other band Spy Glass Blue. These bands are truly a treasure and it's a shame they aren't as known and respected as Jane's Addiction and others, because they are revolutionary.
Average Bear Reviews
ABOUT THE ALBUM
In 1998 band leader, Allan Aguirre reassembled an entirely new cast for Scaterd Few and recorded Grandmother’s Spaceship, which he describes as “hard punk, funk, reggae, and futuristic, with angst, realism, and psychedelia.” He also jokingly referred to the record as Sin Disease 2, and most reviewers believe it to be a worthy successor to that revered masterpiece. The record evinces a very aggressive, predominantly punk sound with a science fiction “space alien” theme dominating or affecting many of its songs. The theme sometimes seems to serve as a concept for portraying the alienation of believers who live in a world where they are increasingly unwelcome. But in terms of content, the songs come much closer to mainstream Christian music than previous Scaterd Few projects, with fairly obvious religious allusions. The summons to “Wake up, sleeper ” in “Lullaby” echoes Ephesians 5:14, and the cry of “Death, where is your sting?” in “Incorruptible” is from 1 Corinthians 15:55. “Win the Fisher ” is a one-line song whose only lyric comes almost straight from Mark 1:17. The most up-front line in “Arbitrator ” (“You’ve knit me, fearfully and wonderfully made”) is from Psalm 139:14. But a number of songs explore darker, scarier stuff. “As the Story Grows, V. 2” presents voices that berate Christians from a world that has heard it all: “We like the smell of hell / How dare you try to tell us that / He died to set us free.” “Space Junk” records questions that assault the believer (“how can you believe in a god that lets small children suffer?”) and ends with a desperate cry (“get out of my mind!”) that identifies the assailant, this time, as within. “Bobby’s Song” (from which the album title comes) tells a bizarre story about a grandmother waiting for a flying saucer to take her away, with shades of the infamous Heaven’s Gate cult suicides; the song features the memorable line, “When you wish upon a star, you better know whose stars they are.” Remastered to perfection by Rob Colwell of Bombworks Sound, the album finds a very worthy new life on black vinyl and comes with a 12x12 insert for fans - FINALLY! Limited to just 200 copies, don't delay in getting this revered, treasured classic.
ABOUT THE ALBUM
When talking about Teutonic (German) Thrash Legend Pioneers it’s essential to speak of ACCU§ER with the same hushed reverence as SODOM, KREATOR, and DESTRUCTION. ACCU§ER is a thrash metal band from Kreuztal, Germany that formed in the early 80’s flying the crunchy speed & thrash metal flag with all the fervor of the most intense mosh pit imaginable. Despite not landing a contract with a major label for their early albums, the band continued to release a string of successful underground releases before disbanding for eight years. After Frank and René decided to get Accuser back together, the saga continued with the band releasing one album with Century Media and their three most recent albums with Metal Blade Records. The guitars are energetic and thick as a brick with aggressive melodic vocals. ACCU§ER is the perfect band for those who worship at the altar of technical thrash and speed metal in the vein of classic Metallica, Slayer, Believer, Death Angel, Dark Angel and Deliverance. With such strong lyrical content and musical brilliance, fans can now have access to these previously high-priced collectibles. CONFUSION ROMANCE was originally a 6 track EP, but the 2022 Remaster on Brutal Planet features three additional bonus tracks to make this a full length album with 9 astonishing tracks! These are essential head-bangers!
WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT ACCU§ER...
It’s good to know that Accuser is around, the thrash metal scene kind of feels safer with their intense rifforamas keeping the fans alive and moving; world domination continues to elude them, but the underground has already preserved a firm spot for them in the “reliant metal stalwarts” pantheon.
METAL-ARCHIVES REVIEWS
Imagine a mix of late 80's Metallica, mixed with later day Testament, some of the groove of Pantera and perhaps just a touch of Machine Head. That's sort of the mixture...

ABOUT THE ALBUM
The buzz generated from over a million plays of IN THIS MOMENT's tunes on the popular Internet community apparently got the attention of the Century Media folks and the rest, as they say, is history. And,the hype over this band's melodic, Swedish-inflected metalcore is not overblown. In addition to a load of good riffs and guitar harmonies, as well as a knack for writing strong melodies, the secret ingredient is the voice of front woman Maria Brink. Her singing is passionate and beautiful, yet not wimpy; the melodies written suit her perfectly and she really knows how to make a chorus come to life. At the same time, her harsh 'core vocals are ferocious as hell and sound better than many of her male counterparts. One of the best things that "Beautiful Tragedy" has going for it is the consistency of songwriting. Many albums of this type have a couple of catchy tunes and the rest begin to bleed together. By contrast, most of the songs on "Beautiful Tragedy" are rife with big hooks and killer axe work, the title track being the standout for an incredibly catchy chorus. But several other songs, such as "Ashes" and "Daddy's Falling Angel," are catchy too. Sure, the band follows a formula in the way that screams and melodic vocals are alternated in predictable places. Fortunately, IN THIS MOMENT gets it right, even in a world where every other band employs a similar songwriting style. It also helps that the tunes are largely up-tempo and stick to a Swedish melodic death metal style of arrangement that is not rife with breakdowns. Beautiful Tragedy is a 2007 masterpiece that breathed new life into a worn out genre. The 2016 vinyl release has been long out of print and this 2023 color vinyl on Brutal Planet Records now features three Japan-only bonus tracks for the very first time. Remastered for vinyl by Bombworks Sound/Rob Colwell we promise this classic, monumental album has literally never sounded better!

These are essential head-bangers! This 2013 release, Diabolic has been mastered for vinyl and limited to just 200 copies!
I had no idea what to expect from one of the greatest Christian Rock/Metal vocalists of our time. But whatever I had conjured up in my head pales in comparison to what we actually received. We knew what Bloodgood was capable of, however, Les did the unthinkable. You actually might want to crucify me after I say this (pun intended), but this album just might be better than anything Bloodgood ever released. It's absolutely heavier and without a doubt, Les did not miss his chance to prove that he has the vocals, the tenacity, and the courage to make not just a really good album but also an album that will forever leave its mark. I can't begin to express to you how impressive this album is with a rock-star line-up of Paul Jackson, Oz Fox, Craig Church, and David Zaffiro. As for this one, for certain, they left nothing on the table.
He's Coming starts off with I Wanna Know You. It's full of driving guitars with twists and turns and a really solid chorus. Scars, the second song on the album, is a fully-loaded guitar masterclass with 80's shredding. Then comes Oz Fox (Stryper) on Judas Is Dead. You hear a heavy influence with darkened tones, and a song titled Judas Is Dead should be dark. I really think every song is great but this song has something really special and feels like a mix of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, but I think you get it. The fourth song, Jesus Freak Show was written in the hopes of the next Bloodgood album. It's a really freakishly great song. So great in fact that it should have been on the album twice.
Moving on to Faith Is Tested and then How Long, heavy with an abrupt interruption at the end of the song that I personally love. I especially love it because the next song is such a contrast. River is about challenges and inspiration that Les received from his granddaughter whose name is River, but it obviously contains a double meaning as well. You can call it a ballad if you want, but I call it a Holy Spirit bliss-of-emotion. Four minutes and twenty seconds into the song you'll see why... something happens here that is magical. The entire weight of this album sits at the heart of this moment. I encourage you to listen to this with earphones and just take this moment in. It's as if something spiritual took over leading into the last two songs. He's Coming (the title track) comes out screaming with lyrics such as "the touch you desire will be replaced with Holy Fire." He's Coming, as great as it is musically, sums up all the reasons that this music has meant so much to believers. It's more than just Les' signature scream, although we are thankful it wasn't left out, it's the music that intentionally gets overshadowed with the message that resounds so loudly on this album that in fact He's coming.
Okay, now to a really important question? How does one end an album this great? Well, with an encore, of course. There's a saying "behind every good man is a great woman." Enter Joyce Carlsen. Just when you thought that Les was "in the studio" doing all the work, we've come to find out that Joyce was a mastermind behind the soundboard making a lot of the calls and giving a lot of direction, pushing for quality and producing clarity like there was no other option Just like a master conductor of an orchestra, Joyce Carlsen was carefully and methodically guiding this project to the end.
So, there is no better way to end an album than with... Return Me to the Fire with Joyce on vocals. Powerful, riveting vocal prowess with distinguished bravery. This song just feels effortless sung by a seasoned pro. I can't be prouder of these two. It feels like the beginning of something really special. Thank you, Les and Joyce. Your inspiration just simply leaves us with chills.

]]>ABOUT THE ALBUM
Up to this point, all of STRYKEN’s previously recorded material had been released under the band name STRYKER. This includes their “45 RPM single” in 1980, “four song EP/Demo in 1981” and “Blitzkrieg" album in 1983.
In 1986, they changed their name to STRYKEN, released their “two song single titled ROCK ON/SURPRISE and went on to add bass player Ezekiel Vade. In 1987 they launched their eight song FIRST STRIKE album and were one of the “featured” bands on K-TEL's “RIGHTEOUS METAL” album with notable bands like Petra, Barren Cross, Bloodgood, and Philadelphia.
STRYKEN – ONCE LOST NOW FOUND includes 14 songs with 7 new releases and 4 NEW SONGS that were “once lost” but “now found.” Never released songs like “A Man,” “Momma,” and the up-tempo, bass guitar centric version of “I Need Your Love” which begins with a killer synthesizer intro. Additionally, 3 “LIVE” audio recordings “now found” enhance the album with one track that covers the band member introductions and the bands message regarding the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST. The album closes with “I’ll Be Home,” which Dale Streiker wrote for his daughter when she was very young and recorded as a wedding gift for her. Remastered for vinyl by Bombworks Sound and includes a deluxe 12x12 full color insert with lyrics and band pics; plus a full write up from Doug Van Pelt of Heaven's Metal Magazine all come together to ensure fans get everything their collector's hearts desire!
ABOUT THE BAND
Often referred to as the “fundamentalists in armor” and playing what it describes as “thunder rock,” Stryken was put together in Arizona in the late seventies by founding members Dale and Steve Streiker initially under the moniker Stryker. After releasing a single and a four song demo, the two proceeded to place a want ad for a drummer, which led them to a talented timekeeper by the name of Joey Knight. A move to Austin came about in late 1982, and by the spring of the following year the band recorded a nine song cassette only release entitled Blitzkrieg that sold very well in the Southwest. By the mid-eighties, however, Stryker started to receive pressure from the Stryper camp about changing its name. Yes, Stryker rhythms with Stryper, but one important thing to keep in mind is that the name Stryker was trademarked by the band after it formed in the late seventies- a time when the boys in yellow and black were more than likely still in junior high school. Needless to say, cooler heads prevailed and the band agreed to make a change by switching the last letter in its name from an “r” to an “n”. Hence, Stryken was officially born. With a permanent name in place and its line up finalized with the addition of bassist Ezekiel Vade, Stryken went through a complete makeover in its image which saw each member of the group don body armor that is symbolic of the Armor of God as described in Ephesians 6:11. Stryken soon formed its own label, Chrystal Records, which it used to release a 12” single that included the tracks “Rock On” and “Surprise” in addition to its 1987 full length debut, appropriately entitled, First Strike (which came out only on cassette and red transparent vinyl).
So, what is the best way to describe “thunder rock”? Well, according to the band, “thunder rock” is a slower, powerful, driving beat, highlighting on guitars and drums. I might describe it as a combination of eighties influenced metal and straightforward hard rock certain to appeal to fans of Stryper, Bloodgood, Saint, Messiah Prophet, Whitecross, Motley Crue and Kiss. First Strike, upon repeated listen, actually proves itself quite the consistent effort in that its tracks, for the most part, are well constructed and hold up under repeated play. The album, for example, delivers its share of anthemic hard rockers (“Crush The Head Of Satan” & “Rock On”), a couple of upbeat melodic metal tracks (“One Way” & “State Of Emergency’), a slower, more driving number (“The Young Men have A Vision”) and a pair of ballads (“The Answer” & “Surprise”). And the band pulls it off without a hitch, which is a credit to the strength of the songwriting here.

Resurrection Band was not only one of the early founders of Christian rock and early Jesus people music, they also were the leaders behind the Jesus People USA Cornerstone Festival, which so many of us came to love and appreciate, not to mention attend every single year. Those years were magical and nothing was greater than watching Rez play on the main stage over the 4th of July weekend. It's something we all looked forward to every single year. They just might be the most influential band in Christian music history. Rarely do you hear Resurrection Band get compared to any other band. They clearly founded their own sound and didn’t worry about following in the footsteps of anyone else. Glenn and Wendi Kaiser, along with Stu Heiss, Jim Denton, and John Herrin simply knew what they were after: to spread God’s love through music and ministry. Pure unadulterated Jesus Rock at its finest. Over the years, they put out one stunningly great album after another, 18 to be exact, if you count their 1973 and 1974 early promos and their 1976 Demo.
Two of their greatest albums that they ever released IMO were their first two full length albums on the Star Song label: Awaiting Your Reply (1978) and Rainbow's End (1979). These late 70s albums were a pivotal point in Christian rock music as they define a message and address topics that no one else would touch such as apartheid in South Africa. Their music resonated with fans all over the world. Some of their greatest songs (Broken Promises, Waves, Awaiting Your Reply, The Return, Afrikaans, Paint a Picture, and Skyline) came from these two early albums, which if I had to choose only two albums to take to an island alone and listen to them for the rest of my life, it would be these two. Yep, that’s correct, these are my absolutely favorite albums of anything and everything that’s ever come out in the Christian rock scene. If you have not experienced these albums before, you’re in for a real treat. If you do have history with these albums, then I don't need to say anything because if you know, you know. There is nothing quite like them in the Christian market. You don’t want to miss this chance to grab these two remastered releases on vinyl. They’ve been completely remastered and faithfully restored. It’s such an honor to be able to re-issue these albums because of how much they meant to me. Thank you, Capitol CMG. Anyone who has experienced and understands what we do will know that these were done right. We even are releasing Rainbow's End with the original die-cut windows just like the first pressing. Rainbow's End comes in Skyline Orange and Awaiting Your Reply comes in Sapphire Purple. Limited to just 300 units each.
